About Me

About Me

Who I Am:

I’m an 18-year-old photographer based in the Bristol area, currently in my final year of A-levels at Queen Elizabeth’s Hospital (QEH). I study Art Photography, which has shaped the way I see the world and helped me build confidence in my work. Balancing school with photography has its challenges, but it’s the thing I look forward to every day — the one part of my life that never feels like work.

Where My Photography Started

My journey began at the start of GCSEs, when I first picked up a Canon 80D. That camera introduced me to everything — lighting, composition, editing, and how to tell a story through a single image. Through school I tried loads of different projects: portraits, landscapes, studio work, long exposure, mixed media, and documentary-style photography.

Over time I started branching out into independent shoots, slowly building up experience outside the classroom. Every project taught me something new and pushed me to experiment more.

My Gear Today

I now shoot on a Canon R6 Mark II, which gives me the speed, clarity, and quality I need for everything from wildlife to portraits. I’ve built up a collection of lenses that allow me to adapt to any type of shoot:

  • 50mm — perfect for portraits and low-light

  • 24–70mm — my all-rounder for travel, people, and events

  • 100–400mm — ideal for wildlife and action shots

I also use a DJI Mini 3 Pro drone for aerial photography. It lets me capture landscapes and locations from completely new angles, especially when travelling.

Why Wildlife Photography Matters to Me

Out of all the areas I’ve explored, wildlife photography is the one I connect with the most. It’s unpredictable, challenging, and incredibly rewarding. Being outdoors — waiting quietly, watching the light change, seeing animals appear out of nowhere — is what I love most about photography. The 100–400mm lens is nearly always on my camera when I’m out exploring.

Wildlife photography pushes me to be patient and observant, and it’s helped me build some of my favourite images so far.

My Plans After A-Levels

Once I finish school, my biggest goal is to travel for as long as possible. I want to bring my camera everywhere and capture places most people never get to see. Whether it’s remote landscapes, quiet wildlife moments, or the people I meet along the way, I want to document the world in the most honest way I can.

I’m also aiming to gain as much experience as possible by:

  • Meeting and working with other photographers

  • Volunteering for projects

  • Taking on shoots outside my comfort zone

  • Exploring new styles and locations

  • Putting myself out there whenever I can

I’m not aiming to turn photography into a full-time career right now — this stage is about learning, travelling, and growing.

My Start in Filmmaking

I’ve recently begun moving from photography into filmmaking, exploring how to build stories through movement, sound, and pacing. I’ve always had lots of ideas for narrative projects, and filmmaking lets me experiment with writing, directing, and creating my own scenes. Through school I’ve gained strong editing experience in Lightroom and Photoshop, and I’ve now started learning DaVinci Resolve, where I’ve been editing my own short video projects. Filmmaking is becoming another way for me to develop my style and push my creativity further.

From Volunteering to Paid Work

For years I’ve taken every opportunity I could find, including unpaid work, just to gain experience and build a strong portfolio. Over time, that led to brands, individuals, and small businesses starting to reach out.

I’m now slowly moving into paid photography, taking on shoots for:

  • Local businesses

  • Individuals

  • Events

  • Creative projects

  • Portraits

  • Product and branding work

Because I’ve experimented with so many different styles through school and independent projects, I’m able to adapt to almost any event or job. Every new shoot helps move my portfolio forward.

Looking Ahead

As I keep building my website, I plan to start selling prints of my favourite travel and wildlife shots — especially the work I create while exploring new countries after A-levels. My main goal is simple: to grow at my own pace, keep improving, and share the way I see the world with anyone who finds meaning in my images.
